Did the person in question get notified in writing that they had forfitted there gun right.In theory ,although I understand government communication is not always accurate but if one looses there gun right they supposed to be notified.

Example if one is convicted of a felony or domestic violence ,the judge should say at sentence or plea bargain that gun rights have been forfitted.And that also should be indicated in post conviction paperwork that every convict is given by right.

Unless there was a communication failure (which happens) your friend aught to already know if there gun rights have been forfitted.

The moderators said the banned "sea lioning" in several posts I made refferences to sea lions in attempt to be sarcastic.I was being wise ass ,I also posted photos of sea lions.I was poking fun at the moderators.

Not if properly stored and non carry guns in secure gun safe's and carry guns at hand and stored properly once not carried.

I would forget about a LTC and remember "violent felony" is defined as "any crime (felony or misdomeanor) punishable by up to a year in state prison (not county jail)" even if one received probation.

A lot depends on the maximum penalty you faced upon your conviction and you'd know that better than me.Violent felony depend not on violence but possible penalty upon conviction even if your sentence was below maximum.

With the MA FID system does more background than the standard background checks in other states at gun stores.You talked about lawyers wanting money but getting gun rights restored in Massachusetts if you are a felon without a lawyer is almost impossible.And getting a record expunged in any state requires a lawyer in any case.

1. I would pay for a good lawyer and go for a record expungement.
2. Forget about handgun ownership.
3. You will need to disclose the expungement on the FID application but if it's expunged excluding LTC they should respect the expungement for basic FID.
4. .If they still deny your FID you can fight it and appeal the denial.
5. If you still loose the appeal on the FID and guns matter that much move to RI,NH,ME where you can buy a rifle/shotgun with just a quick background check and if you're expunged the felony will never show.If your record is expunged buying a gun in New Hampshire or Maine or even RI should be no issue.
6. Get a lawyer,no way around that!There are lawyers in MA that specialize in gun laws.

If your driving record is good it never hurts in MA to get a hearing and hope for a break on leniency for good driving record.If your DR is less than spectacular though and you clearly did the offense it may be a waist of time.

I live in North Adams and got a jury summons for Pittsfield superior court and North Adams has a district court.I spoke to them about it and said I'm lower income which is true and if there was long trial driving to Pittsfield everyday would be a hardship.

They gave me a new jury date at North Adams court(Northern Berkshire district court)

There should be an option on the computer portal linked on the summons for a hardship change of local.

Someone should pick up the phone at the RMV although it's about a two hour wait to get representative.
