Neffsville is where the traffic light on 501 for Valley Road is, non? By the Turkey Hill. And the IU building. And the high school. And the toy shop.

Compare that to Lawn. Where there is a post office. And a volunteer fire station. Not much else. Even less in Upper Lawn, just a crossroads. Colebrook has a gas station. And a water dispensary. Twin Kiss has closed. And the tavern is still being rehabbed.

Mt. Gretna is a different story. There is Chattaqua (the Boro), Timber Hills (SoLo), Camp Meeting (W. Cornwall) and Laurel Woods (So. Annville).

PA is a municipal mess. Too many of them, imho.

In MA, counties and municipalities are organized and run separately. Cities are chartered whereas towns are not. Counties used to have more power and functions, but were curbed in about 30 years ago. Counties do not run the towns. Addresses are not based on the location of the post office (one feature of PA that I really dislike). Most towns have an annual Town Meeting where elected residents can vote on various budget items. School districts are NOT separate taxing organizations. They either get approval from the Board of Selectmen (and sometimes Town Meeting) or go back to the drawing board.

Had a older cousin who was a brick mason nearly his entire adult until he reached 65. Always wished he had a better paying job but work was steady and he was built like a tank. My dad was built the same way. 20 years of chucking artillery in the army then a pipefitter/cord puller at BIW for another 20 until he retired.

The governor keeps pushing the idea but the legislature does not want to work with him or to provide him with any opportunity to look like he's doing something for the people of pennsyltucky so they shut down the idea. Plus, the R-controlled legislature wants to make sure there is enough dough in the coffers to fund their upcoming 9% pay raise (on top of the 5% they got last year).

The "too late to buy" posts seem unhelpful. You are already aware of the lateness. My suggestion is to drive down towards Pownal and then come back up towards Gray. You might find a roadside sign where someone is selling.

$500 for a cord seems absurd. Just plain greed.

I hear this often these days, same as the agenda thing, but no one ever really says what "that garbage" is. Kids are going to be who they are; parents who are NOT the parents of a gay kid should have no say in who that kid should be.
