It's also a bit counterproductive too; those trees are shading your house and keeping it cooler in the summer. Cutting them down for solar, you're generating power, but then turning around to use that power to cool your house that's now baking in the sun.

You'll still come out ahead, but imo there are better ways. Community solar and grid solar make way more sense to me...rather than putting expensive small arrays high up on roofs and removing trees from neighborhoods, put a big field of them on already blighted land. Cap off a landfill, cover it with panels. No one wants to live on a landfill, and there was no nature there before either. It's a win-win.

Rates are up ~40% on electric and ~10% on natural gas.

Have you broken down your price difference to see what's rate increases and what's usage increase? That would be a good first step. Then compare to the same month last year, being mindful of billing days in the period (it can be different) and weather.

For sure.

HR serves the company as any employee does, but part of serving the company is attracting and retaining talent, which can be in the employee's best interest too. It's not like they're pure evil (or pure good), they just have a role that sometimes aligns with what the employee wants for themselves, and sometimes it doesn't, and people should understand that.

That thought crossed my mind too, but I quickly ran out of steam trying to research it. If you wanted to take up the mantle, then the four states with a lower maximum land elevation are Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Delaware which might be a good place to start.

Yeah, that's who I was thinking of too. Obviously the colors are a bit more subdued with the shark, but it seems to have that same kind of cartoony 3d effect with the animal mugging for the "camera".

edit: here's an example Lisa Frank that the shark feels similar to...the animal just floating in space, mouth open, angled toward the viewer, with other ocean accoutrements just kinda strewn about with wonky perspective.

For sure, it seems highly dependent on the exact system whether it likes it or not, in addition to how frequently the heat runs and how much it can charge its battery.

I ended up running new wiring for my two heat-only zones to avoid all the headache. Before that, using a 24VAC wall transformer with wire running up to the thermostat worked well too, but was kinda unsightly.

That's what the other person is describing.

If you only have two wires to your thermostat, they are designed to be connected or not connected; that's the only way the system is designed to communicate. The thermostat can't power itself from two disconnected wires, and if it connects them, then it turns the heat on. Enter the Nest Power Connector that only kinda connects the wires...enough to pull a bit of power for the thermostat, but not enough to actually turn on the heat.

Opinions will vary whether that is okay or not, but it is objectively using things in a way they weren't designed, and the majority opinion of HVAC professionals seems to be that it's no bueno.

So then...don't. Surely you see how it's a bit self-defeating to make a comment to someone and tag them while saying it's pointless to talk to them, right? You are allowed to just...not comment.

No, not really.

I see you saying that kids still get run over, then saying it hasn't happened in RI, then guessing about other what happens in other states. All I was asking was to see your source for saying that monitors don't do anything. Surely you read something about kids still getting run over despite monitors and that's what you're basing your opinion on and not just pulling it out of your ass, right? Because that would be silly.
