Here’s a good reason to have inspections

That guy was putting other peoples lives at risk with an unsafe truck. Driving is a privilege, not a right

The issue is the rules have to be somewhat blanket which does lead to some things that are not inherently unsafe getting flagged. There is also the emissions and pollutions part as well which is important

This should be much, much higher

Is it annoying? Yes

Is it necessary? Absolutely yes.

We all share the road in 1ton + metal boxes, sure a ball joint or pads or tires being replaced is annoying, but so is a component failure due to wear resulting in a vehicle loosing control at 65mph and crossing the lanes
