Adults at playgrounds without kids?
Lmao, fuck your feelings, if I want to swing on the swingset at 24 then I can and I will. Lots of teens and adults who don't have kids do it.
So judgmental.

There was a thread I came across on Reddit yesterday that asked about this very thing, and a lot of people didn't mind adults trick-or-treating that didn't have kids.
Quit gatekeeping Halloween. The woman in the OP has never been trick-or-treating before. Show some sympathy and take the stick out of your anus instead of being judgmental just because she's 23 and going trick-or-treating.
DidDunMegasploded t1_iui8z3v wrote
That depends...is she under 5'5''?
I half-kid lol. I don't think anyone would mind. Mainers are too laid-back to give a shit about a 25-year-old trick-or-treating.
And really, who cares about what people think? The art of not giving a fuck is valuable. Learn it, and live by it.

$300? That's insane. But at least some of the candy is going to needy people, both kids and adults, lol.

Glad you think so! We love MB too. Went to the Biddo one after the hype around its opening died down and we haven't regretted it since. Better than Whole Foods and Hannaford by a mile.

They probably live in a high-populated area with a lot of kiddos.
NGL though, I would spend $200 on candy. I'd get some right now, actually, but it's Sunday and I wanna relax. Belated Halloween candy when everything goes on sale, it is!

Yep, I plan on going there after work. I just wanted to clarify because voting isn't super-familiar territory for me yet and I mailed in my voter registration in the previous city I lived in vs. doing it in-person. Thank you!

Remember when a whole bunch of people wanted to vote what was seemingly the guy from the Deez Nuts meme in as president?
Pepperidge Farms remembers. And so do I. It was one of the good things about the 2016 election.

Just a question that I want to confirm, because I haven't registered to vote in a while.
Does the designated polling location take completed voter registration cards? Or does it vary by town and location? I filled mine out, but I missed the 21-day window to be able to mail it in and I'm a night owl so I haven't been able to go to City Hall and drop it off. I'd get an absentee ballot but 1) it's way too late, also mail delays and 2) me and a friend are going out on Election Day anyway and she offered to take me to the polls because she wants to vote too.

Actually I shouldn't be surprised, but still...they'll probably continue to go up with inflation and all.

Okay then. You can keep supporting the art of politics being shoved into irrelevant conversations and keep being blissfully unaware of the art of tone indicators. I'm happy to leave this pseudo-argument armed with a lot more knowledge of both arts.
And there's no rule of the Internet that states "assume everyone is autistic unless stated otherwise", either.
An autistic person who doesn't know about tone indicators...I'll have to mark that on my list of "Things I Thought I'd Never See". Adieu.

Ahaha...aaaaah...ha, no, it's not sarcasm. Why don't you Google "tone indicators" and then get back to me.
If I, an autistic person, can distinguish what is sarcasm and what is not and you, a neurotypical person, cannot, then someone needs to step back and really assess the situation here. And it's not me.

Maybe you should, because I'm not being sarcastic at all in my overall comment. You don't have to have a broken brain to look at a post or comment and not see a tone indicator.

Is it? Because that attempt sucked more than anything that has ever sucked before.
Sarcasm is hard to determine from text. That is why tone indicators are a thing. Furthermore, as already stated, it's a dumb comment whether sarcastic or not. If you insert politics into an innocuous conversation that has nothing to do with it, then you are a sad person and I will judge you harshly and accordingly.
Smart people don't do that. Even though we're near Election Day, smart people do not do that. Ever.

They could hide their good stuff, but not a lot of people do because Maine is a low-crime state, and thus, it must be a safe state where burglaries are exceptionally rare when they aren't. Hiding your good stuff is just plain old common sense no matter where you live.
But they could meet them outside too, sure. It's just the act of having a complete stranger come to your house and on your property that throws people off and causes them to lash out. That, or they order the food and don't wish to be bothered, but delivery people bug them anyway because...well yeah, it's their job, and customers don't get that.

We try, but between the puppy pads we use and the stray McDonald's bag when we happen to get it, I have to use my squish-and-pray method more often than not.
Definitely wasn't this bad in other cities I lived in. We could put up to four bags in one bin and not worry. Now I have to make sure maggots don't invade our bin again like they did the last time I put trash in and the lid poked upwards a little.
But...but... it's still leagues better than Portland and whatever shit they have going on to charge us $15 out the ass for purple trash bags that we then have to take out of the bins and put on the sidewalk as free food for the bugs and the animals. I couldn't care less about the financial, political or logistical aspects of it; that's just insane.

We're talking about the city that charges $75 for inspections that are now going to be every 5 years and done by smartphone because they can't get their asses out of the office.
They don't give a shit about raising property taxes. They can still do it.
Still, you're right on the money with the latter, as funny as it is.

Maybe you're just projecting. But Mainers aren't really like that. Generally, we're a laid-back bunch. If OP thought it was normal and accepted, then they wouldn't be asking this question. Thought logic.
