what book sat on your "to read" list for ages, only to be one of the best when you finally picked it up?

I love the process by which we discover books. I just adopted a method where you read a middle page of a book your going to buy, and allow it to be a "before you knew" reminder when you come back to it. These little cathartic tricks are what I live for. I also take recommendations super serious, I've had people use up their credibility simply to "talk the talk". Idk anyway, rant over. Books are incredible!
